What a proforma invoice is
A pro forma invoice is a basis for payment before goods or a service are delivered. It is not the same document as a proper invoice, it relates to an expected delivery and is a request to pay. It is useful for the customer because they see the exact amount and can decide.
A proforma invoice is usually not a tax document and does not in itself create a right to deduct VAT. The difference matters for companies, so ask your accountant how to book it.
How it goes with us
- You upload the model, choose the material, the strength and the quantity, and you see the price and the lead time at once.
- After ordering you receive a proforma invoice with a QR code.
- You pay, it is enough to scan the QR code in your banking app.
- Production starts when the payment is received.
- We photograph the batch before dispatch.
Why payment in advance
Every job is made to order from your model and cannot be sold to someone else. Payment in advance protects both sides and the whole order is then clearly under control.
Production starts only after payment, so do not delay paying. See lead time.
Before paying, check the amount, the variable symbol and the customer details. If you pay from a company account, a correctly entered variable symbol speeds up matching the payment to the order.
Companies and VAT
A company from another EU country with a valid VAT number receives an invoice without VAT, explained in the entry on the reverse charge. You enter the invoice details when ordering, so check them before you pay. You can also find out the price beforehand, see quote.
Common questions
When does production start?
After the proforma invoice is paid.
Is a proforma invoice a tax document?
Usually not, it is a request for payment. Documents for tax purposes are handled by accounting.
Can I pay without the QR code?
Yes, the payment details are on the invoice too, the QR code just makes entering them simpler.

Quote
A quote is a binding proposal of price and delivery terms for a specific order. For 3D printing with us you get it straight after uploading the model, as a price per piece and a lead time.
Reverse charge
Reverse charge means that VAT is not charged by the supplier but accounted for by the customer in their own country. With us it applies to EU companies with a valid VAT number in another member state.
Lead time
Lead time is the time from order to delivery of the goods. For 3D printing it consists of waiting for a free printer, the print itself, inspection and shipping.
3D printing price
The price of 3D printing is the sum of the value of the material, printer time and the work around the order. In FDM printing, print time matters most, not the material itself.
Small batch production
Small batch production is making a smaller number of identical pieces, from tens to thousands. 3D printing needs no mould for it, so it pays off where injection moulding would not.
